Biodiversity in the Limfjord
The Limfjord is the largest fjord complex in Denmark. Its nature and environmental condition are under constant pressure. This is partly due to effects of the influx of nutrients and environmentally hazardous substances, fisheries, invasive species and physical disturbance. Objectives for the state of the environment and nature, as a result of several EU directives, have not been met. In particular, the benthic fauna has been under pressure and decline for many years. Against this background, this challenge seeks to contribute to new knowledge about the restoration of valuable biotopes in the Limfjord.
